Why is my model not represented?
We take the basic data for our car comparison from the ADAC e.V. motoring organization. So we are restricted to those vehicles listed on the ADAC e.V. database and cannot guarantee that you will find your model in our car comparison and car finder.
On what basis are the values calculated?
Calculations are based on the data contained in the ADAC e.V. archive. This takes account of fuel costs.
Which factors apart from fuel consumption are included in the calculations?
In order to guarantee a realistic and uniform calculation of consumption costs.
Is sustainability also a calculation criterion?
Sustainability is not a criterion that has a direct influence on the economy of a vehicle. So sustainability is not an aspect of the calculation.
Can I only compare diesel and gasoline cars with one another?
All propulsion systems are contained in the database. But 99.3 percent of all newly-registered vehicles in Germany are gasoline and diesel vehicles. Only 0.6 percent are gas-propelled and 0.1 percent are hybrids. As we are using the database of the ADAC e.V. motoring organization, we can only use the data which we get from them. So it may be that not all possible vehicle models with every possible drive system from every country and with all the costs are included.
How can a diesel be worthwhile at an average mileage of less than 3,000 miles?
It is a widespread belief that a diesel vehicle is only worthwhile at an average mileage of 18,000 miles per year. What used to be a truism in the past has long undergone revision: thanks to the latest technology, today's diesel vehicles are so efficient that in over 50 percent of all cases they are already more economical from annual mileages of 6,000 miles upwards. In some cases even from upwards of 3,000 miles.
Are diesel vehicles basically more economical?
Of course not all diesel vehicles are basically more economical than gasoline vehicles. Their economy depends entirely on the annual mileage driven. A test carried out by the ADAC e.V., however, showed that in 50 percent of the comparisons tested, a diesel is worthwhile already from an annual mileage of 6,000 miles. And as well as being economical, a diesel is also environmentally friendly.
Why do diesel vehicles generally produce less CO₂?
This is due to the engine, and the system's considerably more efficient combustion process. This permits a CO₂ output that is up to 25 percent lower than that of a comparable gasoline vehicle. It also guarantees maximum efficiency in fuel utilization. This not only saves 30 percent of valuable environmental resources but also saves you money!

Why is Bosch offering this service?

The technical vehicle data displayed here is taken from the data bank of the motoring organization ADAC e.V. Vehicle data is not related to any individual vehicle and only applies to new vehicles. Results can thus not be transferred directly to older models. The vehicle data is only for the purpose of comparison between the various types or models of vehicle.

Calculation principles
The calculation principles are based on the average amounts taken from the ADAC Car Costs Database.
The cost comparison takes account of the fuel consumption (mpg or miles/kg).
All details are as in 05/2013 and refer to the German market.
